Here is the U.S. version of the top 10 best selling Beatles songs in order as they sold.

  • 01 Hey Jude
  • 02 I Want To Hold Your Hand
  • 03 Get Back
  • 04 Can't Buy Me Love
  • 05 Yesterday
  • 06 Hello Goodbye
  • 07 We Can Work It Out
  • 08 I Feel Fine
  • 09 Help!
  • 10 She Loves You

In Britain the top selling Beatles single records were:

1 She Loves You 1,890,000

2 I Want To Hold Your Hand 1,750,000

3 Cant Buy Me Love 1,520,000

4 I Feel Fine 1,410,000

5 Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out 1,385,000

6 Help! 905,000

7 Hey Jude 850,000 but this figure is disputed and could be as much as 940,000

8 A Hard Days Night 730,000 to 750,000

9 From Me To You 710,000 to 720,000

10 Hello Goodbye 690,000 to 700,000 could be as much as 790,000

However, it is difficult to assess what makes a song a "hit" and even more difficult to assess what might be a bigger hit than another. Factors other than single sales may be taken into consideration: radio airplay for example. The Hot 100 list factors both airplay and single sales, but does not complare this week's number 1 with next week's and cannot estimate the cumulative effect of a song which has moderate popularity for a long time. Nor is there any way of assessing the popularity of album cuts which were never released as singles except with an airplay only chart, which Billboard did not do for album cuts until the 1990's, and which does not take into consideration popular album cuts which do not get airplay but do boost the sales of the album in question. And none of this can take into account bootlegs, pirated copies of songs and P2P sharing.
