But in general this is what you want: The entire album American Idiot has a pretty consistent guitar tone, and this is a good way to replicate it. They just take a huge stack, crank it up full throttle, and stick a mic in front of it. Once again, I don't know what amp you have so I can't get too detailed, but here's a pretty universal description. Set the Dist from a 4-7 range. Set the Treble from a 2-4 range. Set the bass to like 5-7. Set the mid to 10. Turn it up loud. You may need to adjust it a little in order to perfect it, but that's a pretty general Green Day setting.
