Actually Emmure is considered Christian. Though most of their lyrics are based in violence, they reference following Jesus and God in many songs and do follow Christian practice in their own daily lives.
No one is perfect. Many Christians believe swearing, drinking, etc is absolutely OK because man lives in sin daily. Using tactics like swearing and violent lyrics, yet still referencing the belief in God, helps reach out and bridge Christian belief and atheist or agnostic Metal fans. Emmure is the French version of Immure, meaning to enclose within walls; to shut in; to imprison.
