There were a total of 5 rifles used by Lucas McCain. 4 were Winchester Model 1892 carbines in caliber 44-40, the fifth was an El Tigre copy of a Winchester 92, used in scenes where the rifle might be damaged. Of course, all were modified with the large loop lever, with a screw in the lever that would trip the trigger for rapid fire.

The rifle is a modified Winchester Model 1892 (even though the show was set in the year 1880). In addition to two of the Winchester guns, a Spanish-made Gárate y Anitúa "El Tigre" lever action (a close copy of the Winchester) was used in scenes where the rifle would be dropped, used as a club, etc) to keep from damaging the Winchesters. The rifles were in caliber 44-40, and shot 5-in-1 blank cartridges on the show.
