The dishes used on the show Bonanza came from the prop department and is virtually impossible to trace it's origins. Unless the wife of a person involved with the series comes forward there is no way to find this information. I use the word 'wife' only because men would not generally know china patterns as would a woman.
On the TV show Bonanza, the Cartwright family often used a set of distinctive blue and white dishes known as "Bonanza" dishes. These dishes were produced by the Buffalo Pottery Company and featured a design with a wagon wheel motif. The Bonanza dishes became popular among fans of the show and are now considered collectors' items.
Many of the items used for interior shots of Bonanza were taken from the studio's props department making it almost impossible to track down the dinnerware that was used. One of the patterns often used was the famed BLUE WILLOW. I am trying to figure out the Red Pattern, which seems to look like O.P.Co.'s MAYFAIR??
It seems that the buckskin colored horse that Ben Cartwright rode in Bonanza was the same horse that was used by Marshal Matt Dillon in the series Gunsmoke.
True
I don't know what the exact name of it is but my grandmother has the same china. I am looking into what the name of it is . I will let you know what it is when i find out. The pattern is called Avon Cottage--there are two different scenes. One just has the little house with the people in front of it, and the other (the one used in the Cleaver household) has a turret-type building behind the house. They come in several different colors.

I would also like to know who wants the Chevrolet branding iron from the Bonanza tv show. Believe it or not, I have the original one used to set fire to the Virginia City map before each show. My uncle worked for Campbell/Ewald as a vice president in San Francisco when Bonanza was aired. It was gifted to him by his tv people sometime around 1963. His name was Thomas Milburn "MIL" Johnston. If you care to reply to this note my e-mail is maggiebubba@izoom.net . Thank you Bob Johnston

The Blue Willow pattern is a well-known pattern used in ceramic housewares, such as plates, pitchers and platters. Vintage manufacturers of Blue Willow dishware include Josiah Spode and Dutch East India Company. Presently, Wedgewood Group and Churchill China produce the pattern.
