How do you get a Charizard on Pokemon platinum?

Charizard is the last evolution of the Kanto Region starter Charmander. You can't get him in the game because of that. You can however, go to pal park and transfer Charizard from a Fire red or Leaf green game.

You will need to migrate Charizard from the Generation III games to the Pal Park or trade for it with a nearby friend. Charizard or its pre-evolution forms cannot be caught or given to you in Pokemon Diamond or Pearl.

You can't directly get a Charizard. Once you beat Red on Mt. silver, go to Proffesor Oak in Pallet Town and he will give you a choice of Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle. You can then pick Charmander.

You don't. But you can migrate it from Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green but I wouldn't if I were you because you don't get to keep it on Fire Red or Leaf Green.
