Distribution refers to the process of the body to pass the medication to or throughout the body to release it's effects. The four steps of the medication process are easily remembered by the term ADME. Standing for Administration which is the route the drug is given. Distribution which refers to where the medicine is headed, also depending whether the medicine is local or systemic. Usually medications taken orally are systemic and work in different ways throughout the body. They fix the targeted problem as they pass throughout the rest of the body. The next step is Metabloism which is the way the medication is broke down in the liver or if the pill is enteric coated, it will break down in the small intestines to avoid stomach upset or ulcers. The last step of the medication process is Excretion. Excretion refers to the way the medication is released from the body after it's effects are over with. Usually oral medications are excreted in the urine as empty elecrolyted.
