Well it should look like a tongue with a barbell running through it, the distention (mild swelling) around the piercing is normal and no cause for concern

i am sorry to say but no it is not normal. i had my tongue peirced 7 years ago and mine never ended up that way, my sister had hers done to and it never did that either. it is normal if ur tongue is swollen, but that's about it. i would go and see ur doctor ASAP.

go back to your piercer and ask them if this is normal or an infection. they will know what you should do instead of listening to people on the internet trying to predict your outcome. you don't want to mess with your tongue and try to diagnose it yourself. the piercer will know and won't charge you for advice.
