A pat slide is non-flexible board made of plastic with 3-4 handles down each verticle side. It is used by rolling he patient on to either side and pushing the pat slide so that it is inbetween the bed the patient is on, and the surface that the patient is going to be transferred to; be it another bed or table etc. the patient is then lowered down on to their back again, with a slididng sheet or a bed sheet underneath them. Then after the order of "ready, brace, slide" the patient is pulled from one side and pushed on the other, allowing them to move over the pat slide and onto the new surface.
