Not everyone experiences the generally accepted definition of 'the come down', which is what it's called when you reach the end of your run the drug starts wearing off or making you crazy.

What's happening when a person comes down is simple. Meth is like artificial energy/adrenaline to the body and brain. Thus, during the several days you're staying awake on meth, your body is using its artificial energy source to run its basic functions and ignore the need for sleep or general rest. In addition, meth users are nearly never hungry, so they never eat. What happens is, when you run out of meth, your body is suddenly denied its artificial energy source and turns back to its natural source, which is suddenly found to be completely empty.

The come-down is literally the body shutting down, giving in, and giving up. It's been awake too long, deprived of food too long, and it's finally realized it. This is why people seem sick, weak, irritable, even depraved when they come down. They've run their bodies to their limits, and they're reaping the consequence.

The easiest way to avoid this is to be smart about your drug use. If you insist on doing meth, then you MUST eat. You MUST drink water. You MUST allow your body to rest and you MUST be willing to accept it when it's time to let your body repair itself. Most people, when they run out, start looking for more. A smarter user might prefer to have something to eat, take a shower, and go to bed. This way, you still wake up groggy, hungry, and probably achy, but at least you didn't torture your own body into submission.

Everyone's opinion will be different -- this is just a quick summary of what I have experienced/witnessed when it comes to 'the come down'.

*Edit* There is also the fact that all your dopamine is depleted, therefore when the effects of meth where off. Your body tends to go into a depressed state. Typically if you dont keep yourself fed and hydrated you can get a really bad headache, but when people say they are coming down. It means they feel terrible. Even my Adderall in low doses makes me feel like crap when it wears off because the dopamine has to recycle itself. *note about meth use, meth destroys dopamine receptors, if you abuse meth you will literally take away the ability for you to feel pleasure in life. Including Sex.
