1. Drink plenty of water. Water helps cool the body, and supports multiple body functions. A minimum of 4 glasses a day, 8 preferably.
2. Make sure to get more than one serving of each food group a day. (Grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat) Balancing these groups provides all the vital nutrients you need and support all of the functions your body carries out. Refer to the food pyramid for serving sizes.
3. Eat a good breakfast. Something that has protein is always a good thing to have in the morning, along with a fruit and grain item.
4. Exercise Daily. Just walking a half mile a day would be good. But if you play sports or can walk/run more than a half mile, don't limit yourself. Be careful not to overextend yourself, as you could hurt your body.
5. Try to get the same amount of hours of sleep every night. Believe it or not, many diseases are due to stress, and an easy way of getting stressed out is by not getting enough sleep. But this doesn't mean you should sleep in very often either. Irregular sleep patterns can cause headaches or migraine.
6. Get informed. Learn something about your health every day. Check your weight, look at your body from a doctor's perspective, and learn your basic body systems. The more you know about healthy lifestyles, the more likely you are to live one.
