If you think you have a weight issue, you should consult your physician for a diet plan that addresses your particular situation and health condition.
---
Generally, try to get enough fruits, veggies, grains, and protein, and get plenty of exercise. Try to choose foods that are low in fat, salt, and sugar, but give yourself a treat every once and a while.

You mean the perfect diet to stay thin? The perfect diet to enjoy food? The perfect diet to avoid getting Heart disease when you're older? The perfect diet to make sure you get all the essential foodstuffs to grow and avoid getting too fat? If you eat a range of healthy foods and don't eat too much of any of them, then your body will tend to sort out what it needs. So what do we mean by a 'healthy' diet rather than a 'perfect' one? While you are growing, you do need lots of energy, but most young people in the UK choose too many foods that have too much fat and sugar. For vitamins and minerals, a healthy diet should include five portions of fruit or vegetables a day, so get counting! You also need some fish, meat, cheese or beans, pasta, bread or potatoes, as well as a bit of fat from milk, cheese and other dairy foods. Food manufacturers tend to put too much salt and sugar into many of their snacks and foods because that's what they think people will buy, but if you are used to snacks with lower sugar and salt, they taste just fine.
They should eat plainly cooked quality protein such as chicken, fish, meat (no breadcrumbs, batter, processing, deep frying, etc), plus fresh vegetables, especially leafy green vegetables, plus beneficial fats and oils, plus some fresh fruits, and they should avoid all refined processed carbohydrates (apart from the occasional treat).
They should also drink plenty of fresh water and give up sodas (apart from the occasional treat). They should add exercise (running, swimming, trampolining, brisk walking, sports, playing outside etc) to the dietary changes for even better results.
For in-depth information about how to proceed, and for various lists and charts, see the page links, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.
Unless he/she is obese, a 12-year-old should not be put on a diet without consulting a dietitian or seeking similar advice from your physician/doctor.

HOPE MY HELP HELPS YOU
Thanx bye x
I hope you mean what kinds of foods you should be eating and not a real "diet." At 12 years old it is very important that you eat a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables, meats, nuts, and other things. A 12 year old's body is just starting to go through puberty and small amounts of baby fat can be seen. You are NOT fat and do NOT need to diet. I would suggest that you quit eating all the chips and junk food everyday, quit going to fast food places, quit the sodas, and get off the sofa. Doing this will help you and it is simple to do. If you want to snack eat an apple, yogurt, or have a cheese stick.
A healthy diet for a twelve-year-old should include a variety of foods from all the food groups to ensure they receive all the necessary nutrients for growth and development. Here are some general guidelines:
Fruits and Vegetables: Aim for 2-3 servings of fruits and 3-4 servings of vegetables daily. Encourage your child to eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables to ensure they get all the necessary vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
Grains: Choose whole-grain options such as brown rice, whole-grain bread, and whole-wheat pasta. Aim for 5-6 servings per day.
Protein: Encourage your child to eat lean sources of protein such as chicken, fish, lean beef, eggs, and beans. Aim for 2-3 servings per day.
Dairy: Choose low-fat or fat-free options such as milk, yogurt, and cheese. Aim for 3 servings per day.
Limit Sugar and Processed Foods: Encourage your child to limit their intake of sugary drinks, candy, and other processed foods.
Encourage Healthy Snacks: Encourage your child to choose healthy snacks such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
It's also important to encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day and to limit their intake of sugary drinks. And make sure they get plenty of physical activity each day to support their overall health and well-being
