The Gateway Drug Hypothesis is exactly that - a hypothesis. In my experience, whether you take one drug once or many drugs often, your motivation for doing so is entirely your own and dependent on your own feelings and opinions. If you take one drug and move onto others it is because you wish to experience either the same effect as before or experience something new.
