I can assure you that you are not going to sleep through labor, with or without sleeping pills, but there are other ways that doctors can make the process less painful. Consult your gynecologist, and DO NOT try to prescribe your own medication.
Besides possible liver toxicity i dont see a problem. check to see if the sleeping meds are hepatoxic.

None,this can only be done by gas or needle injection. If not, there are always the anesthetic pills which dont give sleep immediately but still knock you out after awhile. However, I do not think doctors give them out as they are meant for surgery
