You are most likely not going to get sick from taking expired medication ... BUT ... you are not getting the full intended dose of the medication if the date has expired. Medications lose their potency over time and therefore lose their effectiveness in curing the ailment.

It depends how 'expired' it is... If it's just a few days or a week out of date, there's no harm in taking it. However - if it's well past its expiry date, the effectiveness of the medication may be reduced, and you won't get the full benefit.

It is reported to have a five year life under proper conditions but I would not take any drug once expired!
