How many hours of sleep should you get each night to help you face the challenges and demands of your day?
The amount of sleep a person requires can vary. Some people
function well with six hours of sleep while some require ten. Eight
hours is generally considered the norm. The quality of sleep is
also important; During healthy sleep you engage in REM (rapid eye
movement) sleep. This is when you dream. Healthy sleep is essential
as it is during this time that many of your bodies healing and
growth occur. You should be able to tell if your getting sufficient
sleep by how tired you feel during the day. You can sleep too much,
just as you can sleep too little. Adjust accordingly, but again,
eight hours is considered the norm.
