You can take it as long as you need to take it. The over the counter box limits it to 14 days because the thinking is that if you need it longer you should see your doctor to find out what is wrong.
Also, there is a rebound in acid production after chronic use so you may not need it anymore long term but may have to put up with some short term symptoms or step down to a medication like Zantac for a few weeks in order to get off.

I have never had problems, in fact it seems to help the omeprazole take affect better for me, but everyone reacts different. Yes, you can take Prilosec (omeprazole) with marijuana. You can also take all the other drugs in omeprazole's family, such as Nexium (esomeprazole), Prevacid (lansoprazole), Protonix (pantoprazole), Aciphex (rabeprazole) etc....
I'm gonna find out, 'cause I'm quitting it today. Painfull bones, high uric acid and gout, weight gain...I'm out. Goodbye Omeprazole!

I am not a doctor, but amlodipine is a a calcium channel blocker. It blocks calcium from flowing into muscles in order for blood vessels to dilate. Omeprazole blocks stomach acid, thereby blocking calcium from being absorbed into the body. (Osteoporosis is a major side effect of taking omeprazole.) So why would one take amlodipine if the calcium is blocked from the body with omeprazole in the first place?
