Just that. The longer your wait, the harder it'll be to explain. Imagine your mom's surprise if you say, "Yeah, hey Mom, this is _____. We've been dating for a year!"
Explain that you've got a new boyfriend/girlfriend & you want her to meet him or her. You can all go out to lunch or invite your partner to dinner with the family.
