Trazodone is great for sleep for some, however brain zaps would be very unlikely due to increasing the dose unless you stopped something else cold turkey or decreased the dosage way to fast. Trazodone is an old antidepressant which would cause withdrawl symptoms such as zappers, etc, if you stopped it for any reason to increase it, then more than likely zappers will start up. With thease psycotropic drugs out there you never know what way the med or meds will take a turn on you, stay on low doses as possible with minimal meds so you can pinpoint your symptoms as they persist. Just my plain own opinion though.
I've read that Omega 3 (can get this in fish oil capsules) / Vitamin B / Magnesium Malate will help ease the pain of the brain zaps. More info: http://www.topix.com/forum/drug/effexor/TF6DC3BH42B6BTSA9
Brain zaps are not a common symptom of alcohol withdrawal. Symptoms of alcohol withdrawal typically include tremors, anxiety, sweating, nausea, and confusion. If you experience unusual symptoms such as brain zaps during alcohol withdrawal, it is important to seek medical help promptly.

Yes this is the same thing. I am on effexor and get the same side effect if I miss a pill. The jolts aren't harmful, but they are very disconcerting. Check with your Dr to see if they can ween you off more slowly.
The 'ammo' is the electrical charge that zaps your attacker.
Electric head shocks, brain zaps, etc. is common when some one is trying to withdraw from psychiatric drugs. It is caused by lack of essential fatty acids. Taking Omega 3 fish oil will get rid of them.

I have been taking lexapro for two years and have finally decided to stop. The tapering off process has been difficult with the dizziness and all..my pharmacist recommended stemetil and it is really helping with the dizziness and brain zaps associated with tapering off of the dreaded lexapro!!
