Yes, they're called "missed miscarriages" and have no symptoms. They are often not detected until fetal heart tones are absent during ultrasound. Depending on the stage of pregnancy a doctor will either manage the miscarriage with medication, perform and D+C or D+E or more rarely, induce labour. From Healthsquare.com: At other timesin about 1 percent of pregnanciesthe body does not discharge the fetus, the placenta, or any other elements of the pregnancy for several weeks, even though the fetus has died. This is known as a missed miscarriage. It is a possibility when a woman has neither menstrual periods nor any signs of pregnancy. Breasts may return to their prepregnancy state, for example, or the woman may lose a few pounds. Not all missed miscarriages are preceded by warning signs.

You will eventually bleed one way or another but the baby may die and you do not immediately miscarry. Unfortunately if you don't realise you may become ill. If you suspect the baby may have died wirh or without bleeding you should see a doctor immediately.

No. The embryo/fetus can die but not come out. That usually lead to a infection within 2 weeks so you will feel an odor. Then you need to see a doctor and get a D&C to clean out the uterus.

Yes it is. I had a miscarriage this way. I went in for a standard appointment at 8 weeks and discovered by ultrasound that my baby had died at 5 weeks 4 days. I felt no cramps and had no bleeding. It is called a missed abortion or missed miscarriage. It is very common also. I was sent home and still did not pass the baby on my own even after 3 more weeks so I had to have a D&C (Dilation and Curettage) which is a procedure where they manually widen the cervix and remove the fetus from the uterus.

That would mean the fetus have died but is still inside of you. You then have to see the doctor and get the uterus scraped so the fetus and lining of the uterus comes out. If not you will get infections.
