Keep in mind medications, particularly when dosing children, should NEVER be giving medication using silver/flatware spoons as a measuring devices as they can(and usually do) vary greatly over or under the proper dose.

Save the dosing cups that come with cough syrups and the like for older children/adults. Or buy a proper oral liquid medicine measuring spoon for young children. Infants require even more accurate dosing and parents and care providers should keep oral medication syringes for this purpose in the medicine chest.
