I too had issues with using GameShark codes on my mac, but now I have fixed this problem!
I made a very detailed YouTube video how to enter GameShark codes on mac, and shown a working example.
Check out my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mbvptik5_B0
Enjoy!
EDIT: Sorry I moved the video. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXikE6Iql5Q
March 31st, 2012 Edit2: These codes dont work for emerald version. I have found a solution for people looking for Emerald. took me forever...
When you open VBA and it asks you which game to open, click Cancel. This does not close VBA. Go to options of VBA and click Add codebreaker/Gameshark codes(they are unable to be used while a game is on this is why you click Cancel). After you enter the codes click Ok. Then go to Open Roms and choose Emerald. To activate the codes I have found you must press a combination of keys similar to no$gba. These keys are Left and Right Option buttons on the keyboard along with the Left control button. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but it's the only solution I've found.
Warning: The codes for Emerald are really buggy and crash the game frequently, by exiting VBA it will remove the codes and your game will be normal.
The only codes I've found to work are the Pokemon modifiers on Supercheats.com
Hope that helps.

That video goes into detail on how to use cheats Emerald VBA using Mac
Yes, GameShark codes work in Pokemon Emerald for the PC. My codes work when I try them.
No because they are two different games and because the codes are different
A game shark is a cheating device used to get all pokeball's, any Pokemon etc. It is only used for game boy games. It is the older version of an action replay. And you would put the game shark where the gba game would go then put the insert the game in gameshark and enter the codes and thers your Pokemon cheat device!
its a hack game emerald game shark codes might work? but i know its from the third gen and it might be no codes
If your using the older codes or codes from a diffrent version of the Pokemon games then that's why they don't work.
Pokemon Liquid Crystal is a hacked version of Pokemon Fire Red, So all gameshark codes that work on fire red will work on liquid crystal too, and it does work but I would advice you not use the codes because it can, I mean there is a possibility that the ROM will get corrupted use it but dont overuse, disable them when not required the game becomes less interesting if you use codes Have fun playing it you can find gameshark codes at gamefaqs.com
As long as you have the proper codes for your version of the software you shouldn't have any problems getting it to work.
kill your self so you dont know it ever
Yes, GameShark codes work in Pokemon Emerald for the PC. My codes work when I try them.
yes but you'll have to have that version of the gameex. if you want to use japan gameshark codes you'll have to have that Japanese version of the game for the codes to work
It's the same with mine! None of the gameshark codes I've found work on my visualboy sapphire version.
equalizer, action replay and gameshark codes all work
In Pokemon Liquid Crystal, the Crystal version Gameshark codes are not guaranteed to work due to the differences between the original Crystal version and the rom hack of Liquid Crystal. It is recommended to use cheat codes specifically designed for Pokemon Liquid Crystal to avoid any compatibility issues.
there wouldn't be PS1 codes on a ps2 gameshark but since ps1 games work on ps2 you might be able to download ps1 cheats onto ps2 gameshark but it is doughtful since ps1 and ps2 gamesharks and gameshark codes are probably differant format
The "M" code is the code that must be put on in order to get the other codes to work Gameshark stopped putting up codes for older games you can go to archive.org and type in gameshark.com or you can find it on supercheats.com
No it does not
The normal gameshark codes work on android, just bring up the cheats menu and enter the code
