unofrtunately, you can't unlock the hoenn or sinnoh regions in heartgold or soulsilver. but i hear that the Pokemon executives are going to come out with a game that encompasses all the regions soon. (I think it starts with the hoenn region, then goes to kanto, then johto, then sinnoh.

Well if you put a Pokemon on the poke walker..and i know this isn't much help. buuut if you unlock the hoenn field (for pokewalker course, and i don't know how to unlock it) keep walking and get over 7500 steps and poke radar and you have a probability of 55% of getting skitty in battle ^^ hope that helped.I think you could at a route on pokewalker.

Where do yo catch charamander in Pokemon heart gold?
You cannot "catch" Charmander. When you unlock the Kanto region in Pokemon HeartGold, you have to go to Pallet Town and go into Professor Oak's Lab. He will then give you the opportunity to choose the 3 Kanto starters.
