Some of the more common reasons for Second Life failing to start up are:-

1. Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements. Second Life can be quite demanding on your computer, especially the graphics card.

2. The Viewer you are using to access Second Life is no longer supported an example of this is the Phoenix viewer.

3. The Second Life grid is down. This sometimes occurs during server maintenance and bug fixing.

4. internet connection problems. Try switching your router off and on
