Yvonne - try going into your documents and find Sim's 3 icon, just right-click it and choose properties. once your in the properties, choose the shortcut tab and then click find target. when this is open choose the TS3 icon and then it should work fine :')
It's very likely that your computer does not have enough memory or video card space to support the game. I know how this feels because my first two computers didn't run the game right either...very frustrating. The Sims 3 website has all the requirements your computer needs for the game if you want to check that out and see. Here's a link:
http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq
If the link doesn't work for some reason, go to Sims3.com, then hover over the tab at the top left that says: The Game, and then click on the second-to-last option that says: System Requirements. Hope this helps

In the Sims 3, your computer has to have a lot of space (GB), and it needs to have a new video card. I bought the Sims 3 when it came out, and my computer couldn't support it either. I suggest buying a newer computer, but when you do, ask a professional about the space, and about the video card.
try to uninstall the sims 3 then try to reinstall it. if you still have problems then you can go to the sims website and they have people you can call or e mail
No itried to do that i stalled on my laptop and it wont work without the disc
Unfortunately, you can't actually build stairs/upstairs for the sims on ps2 :'( get the sims 3 or the sims 2 (computer version(s)) to do this. Both work on pc, but only sims 3 works on mac :)
