Broly is the son of Pandora and when he was born, it was seen that he had a very high power level. People eventually started to believe that he would be the first to acheive the status of "Super Saiyan" thereforth came the name "Broly: The Legendary Super Sayian" The reason Broly hates Goku/Kakarot so much, is because Broly and Goku were side-by-side in capsules when they were infants and Goku/Kakarot always cried which gave the sleeping Broly nightmares. Pandora, Broly's father, hired a scientist that invented a headband for Broly that controlled his insane powers. However, meeting Goku/Kakarot, Broly's emotions grew wild and he broke the headband and followed it by going on a destructive rampage that Goku/Kakarot and friends barely managed to stop.

Bio-broly is clone of him, but he very underrated due that his power level is not as strong as he was cloned from.
