There are many reasons why minecraft, or any other software, wouldn't work. Please provide more detail.
If you don't have Java virtual machine software, you will need to download and install one to play Minecraft.
it could be your mods if it is go to your mine craft folder and go to aves and copy it to your computer then delete your .minecraft folder and re download minecraft and u will get your worlds back
