Matt was being unsure of himself and in his confusion he began to yell at Tai, who was taking the 'leader' role too seriously or something. Matt being ticked and Gabumon's loyalty caused him to fight with Wargreymon while Matt was fighting Tai on the ground.
Matt has a breakdown soon after in the series and finally confronted the darkness in his heart and stopped being whiny, so it all ended well. =D
