In order for an online game played on a public server to be made attainable and playable on a private server, the hard code must be recreated SOS it is not considered infringement. So programmers literally have to "back invent" the way things are done. Everything from logging in to NPC character AI (or Artificial Intelligence). Doing so is a long and very drawn out process if it isn't done right away. This is due to the amount of information added to COV/COH via expansions and booster packs. There is so much information to sort through and recreate that the time it would take to recreate on your own would take you years. Not to mension until you can "hack" into the current public servers, you will have no other way to recreate a login... which then gives you no way to create a private server. Doing this is lillegal- in most cases. Sometimes information is leaked out and employees help create tools for private servers. I doubt COX staff would be as shallow. Hope that helps you out!
