Scourge the Hedgehog (originally known as Evil Sonic) is a recurring villain featured in the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. As the name suggests, he is an evil double of Sonic the Hedgehog, and thus is an anthropomorphic, humanoid hedgehog. Scourge originally wore a leather jacket, black-rimmed sunglasses, and black boots. In order to disguise himself as his heroic self, he simply had to remove this clothing and replace it with Sonic's trademark sneakers, though he showed some dislike for the running shoes. -luvcynderBefore draining energy from the Master Emerald, Scourge was an exact duplicate of Sonic, with blue skin and hair and green eyes, but he later transformed so that this color scheme reversed, giving him green skin and hair and blue eyes. Scourge now wears a jacket with flames on the shoulders, black/green shoes and sunglasses with red frames. He also gained two scars (from Locke punching him in anger) across his chest. PERSONALITY Since he was originally an alternate version of Sonic, Scourge possessed many of Sonic's traits, only darkened and at times completely reversed. While Sonic enjoys the company of his friends, Scourge has none, seeing others as pawns who can help him prove that he's the best. He is also completely sadistic and carries no sympathy for others or patience for weakness, as shown when he kicked Buns (the Anti-Bunnie) out of the group when she developed a serious disease. Jules the Hedgehog assesses that deep down, Scourge is no more than a coward who only controls others through fear. When it comes to fighting, Scourge cares only about humiliating his opponents and demonstrating his own ability. He doesn't hesitate to injure his enemies, and would kill them if it suited him. However, his arrogance, amplified from Sonic's usual cockiness, makes it easier to thwart him. He and Sonic have nothing but animosity for one another; on one occasion, Scourge sincerely offered Sonic a chance to turn evil and help him rather than he turn good and help Sonic, claiming that Sonic was "full of untapped potential." At first, Sonic seemed speechless, as though considering the offer, but later said that he was simply too disgusted for words. Despite this, they do occasionally find themselves working together, such as when the pair and Shadow battled the sub-boss Croctobot (though afterwards, Scourge immediately turned on the two, eager to show off his new power). Scourge thought he figured out why Sonic disliked him: all Sonic needed was one bad day, and he'd be just like him. Sonic stated the exact opposite, saying that all Scourge needed was some good qualities and he'd be just like Sonic. This gave Scourge a brief moment of self-doubt before Sonic got knocked down by Fiona. As a result, he later decided to leave Mobius to find out the truth about who he was. This has lead to a strong drive to differentiate himself and his dimension from the originals; to prove that he can be superior rather than a mere double. However, despite his evil, Scourge does seem to have some of Sonic's humanity within him, when, during his confrontation with Sonic's father, he claimed that he killed his own father. While at first he seemed unrepentant about this, he may actually feel guilty about this, as he spared Jules's life and left crying after Jules told him his opinion about him. Like Shadow the Hedgehog, Scourge has no real loyalties to any side: he would serve any faction that allows him to attain his own personal goals and agenda, shown by him joining and leaving Finitevus on his own free will (as it would give him a chance to make life difficult for Sonic and the Freedom Fighters), and going up against Eggman to destroy the Metal clones of himself and Sonic. Unlike Shadow however, he lacks any sense of honour or duty. by Luvcynder
