Yu-Gi-Oh was originally based on the storyline of Yugi finding the Millenium puzzle and his life being changed by Atem. The game People call Yu-Gi-Oh is of course referred to as Duel monsters in the show. Duel Monsters was originally a mini-game in the original series. (You can watch the Original series "Yu-Gi-Oh Season zero" on youtube) Duel Monsters was in fact only played once in the show, until another company took it over and made the show all about Duel Monsters. Which is the Yu-Gi-Oh series we have today.

"Duel Monsters", the card game from "Yu-Gi-Oh!" is in many ways, a parody of Magic: The Gathering. And, in fact, several early YGO cards make references to Magic. "Duel Masters" actually plays more like Magic than Yu-Gi-Oh! does, using a mana system to summon monsters and play cards, whereas Yu-Gi-Oh! uses a level system. Another difference is that there are no life points in Duel Masters. So short answer? No, it didn't copy Yu-Gi-Oh!, the names are just similar.
It's a stragery card game where normally two players (or 4 when in a tag duel) aim to lower their oppenents life points to 0. The starting number of life points is 8000 in the new rules and 4000 in the old rules - for help just buy rule book of eBay or something that sells them! Players use monster, trap and spell cards to aid them when in a duel. Most people think this strategy card game is boring and rubbish but 1. they've probably never tried it and 2. everyone has there own hobbies! Yu-Gi-Oh is a Japanese children's card game based on Duel Monsters which is also played in different countries round the world. It is rated 6+ and is very popular in the USA.

Well it depends on what kind of game you want. Do you want a life game in a mythical world, where you go around killing monsters? Runescape is a good game for this. Or do you want a life game where you go around a city, go to school, choose which job you get, and make friends? Second life is a good game for this.
