In Super Mario World, the big dots on the map represent completed levels that the player has conquered. Each time a level is finished, the corresponding dot changes from a small dot to a big dot, indicating progress in the game. Additionally, some levels unlock new paths or shortcuts, which can be explored as players advance through the game.

For the last puzzle in the tomb, there are 2 big statues and 4 little statues. Each little statue has dots on its belly (one dot, two dots, 3 , and 4). The switch on each post drops a little statue, but the room will begin to fill with sand. You must drop the statues in order (1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots, 4) before the sand covers the switches. The small mummy case opens to reveal the Blue Jewel. The order of the switches is effectively this : The far right switch, the center-left switch, the center-right switch, and finally the far left switch.*There is a reset switch in the left passage if you fail the sand challenge.
