In sunset valley it is somewhere at the edge of the town, quite far from the beach. I cant describe twinbrook, but in bridgeport you have all those flats, and in the sea there is a very unnatural land with a road on it. Continue the road to land, where you'll find the science lab. If i am not clear enough, visit carl's sims 3 site. There you will find a sunset valley walktrough, including locations. Have fun!

shortly after your sim dies you should get an opportunity from the science facility called "Oh my ghost" then you put the gravestone into your inventory, take it to the science facility, your sim should be resurrected and you will be able the control them like a normal sim, but they will look like a ghost, they can click their own gravestone and you can click "return to netherworld" if you get bored of them. hope I helped :)
