What are the effects on those who gathered when the minstrel of gondor sings before them?
This occurs in the chapter "The Field of Cormallen" of the Lord
of the Rings (Volume 3 The Return of the King"). His audience is
moved to tears and laughter: "He sang to them ..until their hearts,
wounded with sweet words, overflowed; and their joy was like
swords, and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and
delight flow together and tears are the very wine of
blessedness."
