A button named LT(Left Trigger) does not actually exist on a PS3 controller. The closest thing to LT is L2. It is the second button down on the left back side of the controller.
There isn't one. There are only the L1, R1, L2, R2, L3, and R3 buttons. The L1, L2, and R1, R2 buttons are on the top of the controller and the L3, R3 buttons are activated when you press down the analog sticks. This is usually indicated by a clicking noise.
They're just buttons, similar to L2 and R2 on a PS3 controller. It depends on what game you're playing. Some games don't use it , some use it for changing weapons, melee attacks, etc. They aren't a "special button"
The L1 button is the left 'shoulder' button. While the PSP doesn't technically have a L2, games that need it usually have it mapped to the PSP's analogue stick.
"L" would likely be the Left stick, however it's possible that it's the buttons on the top of the controller on the left side. Depends on the game, which one they're talking about. On the left: L1 is the top, L2 is the trigger like button below L1 and L3 is the stick (it pushes down).
In Call of Duty 3 for PS2, to use binoculars, press and hold the L2 button on your controller to bring up the binoculars. You can use the binoculars to scout for enemy positions or objectives from a distance before engaging them. Release the L2 button to put away the binoculars and return to normal gameplay.

A devised lateral pass may also be in the playbook depending on which team you are using. To perform this, you just press the button with the corresponding receiver and the pass will go backwards.
