The actual game ID of a DS game is located on the front of the cartridge, at the bottom right hand corner. It usually is a 10 letter combination which looks like this:
AAA-AAAA-AAA
The game ID asked for by the DS Action Replay (AR) when you are trying to enter in a new game is a different series of numbers and letters, which generally looks something like this:
AAAA-12345A67 (On an interesting note, the first four letters in the AR game ID is always the same as the middle four letters in the actual game ID.)
As far as I know there is only one way to find the AR game ID, and you have to use the AR to do so, but it's very simple to do.
Step 1: With the game in the AR and the AR in the DS, turn the DS on. The standard AR menu screen will come on.
Step 2: When the main AR menu comes up, remove the game cart from the AR. The AR will prompt you to insert a game
Step 3: Re-insert the game. The AR should now say that this is an unknown game, however, the AR game ID will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen.

The game ID for a Nintendo DS game can be found on the cartridge. There will be a code, which is specific for each DS game.
On the front of the DS game card, near the bottom will be the game ID.
