in honey tree's but not always just put some honey on it: Burmy is a very unique Pokémon in that its form is ever changing between the three cloaks; Plant Cloak, Sand Cloak & Trash Cloak. These are changed dependant on the area that Burmy last battled upon. If its on Grassy areas then it'll be Plant Cloak due to picking up leaves. If in caves, beaches or sandy areas in general then it'll be Sand Cloak due to picking up the rocks and sand. If in buildings or on roads then it'll become the Trash Cloak. However, as a Burmy, it gets no use out of these changes as they are purely cosmetic, but evolve a female one with its last battle in one of those places, and it evolves into a Wormadam level 20+= wormadam level 20+ = mothim
Where to find wormadam?
You can't find a wild wormadam, but a female burmy will evolve into it at lv 20. A male will evolve into mothim. Make sure burmy has the cloak you want wormadam to have. Trash cloak (the pink one, get it inside) gets you a steel-type wormadam, plant cloak (green, in grass, snow, or water) gets you a grass-type, and sandy (tan, in caves or on rocky ledges) gets you ground-type. All wormadams are bug-type. If you don't have a burmy, put honey on a tree. It may appear after a half day.

In order to get the Ground Form of Burmy which is what you're calling a Sandy Burmy, you must battle with your Burmy in a cave, in ruins or somewhere on any road. I believe battling with it is all you have to do but if not then you might have to lose a battle with it as well.
