Originally, all the money won in a round was then "spent" buying prizes of various types. As on the Price is Right and other daytime shows, the makers of these products or services provided them to the show and paid for their display. One unique item was a life-size ceramic dalmatian dog, which gained the nickname of Sheldon and became the show's "mascot". The price of the ceramic dogs was originally set at $154.
Money not spent after a round could be left in the player's "account, but could only be spent if and when they won another round.
