- By Kuroi Kaze It's simple actually. Go to Options, Select Plugins. Under controller one set the VMS to be either with LCD or without it is your choice. Then start chankast with no iso loaded (or use the open lid command under the file menu) and go to File on the dreamcast menu (it is a dancing VMU). It will ask you to wipe/format the VMU in slot 1 and pick a logo. Just do as it asks and now you can save games! Enjoy.
VMUs, Rumble packs, Microphones, etc.
There are no controller "slots" on the PS3. All of the controllers are wireless and are automatically mapped to which "slot" it is in depending on order of controller activation. To plug the controllers into a "slot" you could plug them into the USB ports, but this is not necessary unless you are charging your controller.
If you are referring to the GameCube version, you can either transfer to a Game Boy Advance with the GBA Link Cable, or export it to a memory card (it takes an entire Memory Card 56 to do this). In the DreamCast version, you can transfer the Chao to a VMU. There is a transfer station in each Chao Garden.
Dreamcast BIOS dumps are not legally redistributable. You must dump them yourself from your own Dreamcast.
VMU or (visual memory unit) its the screen of a memory card that you put in the controller. it also lets you play little sh*tty games on it. but there you are
Yes, the Dreamcast has no way of saving games internaly and saving games requires the used of a memory card or VMU. There are two main options for Dreamcast memory. The cheapest option is to buy a third party memory card, these save data and have no other function. The official memory cards, known as Visual Memory Units (VMU), have a number of additional features. They have a screen and buttons and act like mini consoles. They can be used to play mini games and can be used to manage save data independent of the Dreamcast console. They can also be linked together to trade saves and play mini games in multi player. While plugged into the controller, VMU also act like a screen on the controller and can be used by some games to offer additional information.

If you are a fan of Sega’s Dreamcast, chances are you want to have most, if not all, of the accessories that are available in the market. You should familiarize yourself with the accessories and what their uses are, so you will know which ones you will have to buy. If you spend most of your time using the system, it would be best to save up and buy all of the items in the accessories line, so you can make the most out of your Dreamcast experience. Here are some guidelines on the accessories, and how they can make your Dreamcast experience a more enriching one. Step 1: One of the most important accessories is the Dreamcast memory card, or the VMU (Visual Memory Unit). It has a monochrome LCD screen, two gaming buttons and a D-Pad. The VMU enables you to play games loaded from specific Dreamcast games like a Chao game which has been transferred from Sonic Adventure; there are also a number of downloadable games from the internet. The VMU can also display a list of saved game information stored on it. Step 2: The Dreamcast mouse and keyboard are essential when you need to use the included, fully-functional web browser. They are also supported by other games such as Quake 3, The Typing of the Dead, Railroad Tycoon 2 and Phantasy Star Online. Step 3: A lot of the Dreamcast games supported a Jump Pack or a rumble pack, which can be bought separately and then plugged into the controller. The Dreamcast controller has a design similar to Sega Saturn’s analog controller; it has a D-Pad, an analog stick, four action buttons, two analog triggers on its underside and a Start button. It also has two slots that can hold the rumble pack or memory cards. Step 4: The microphone peripheral is similar in design to the memory pack or VMU; it is made of gray plastic and inserted into a VMU slot on the controller. The Arcade Stick has six buttons with the same microswitch features seen on commercial arcade games. These are the basic Dreamcast accessories, which will make playing the game a more complete experience. Depending on your needs and desires, you can choose which ones to buy right away – and which ones you can live without for the time being.
