It's simple actually. Go to Options, Select Plugins.
Under controller one set the VMS to be either with LCD or without it is your choice.
Then start chankast with no iso loaded (or use the open lid command under the file menu) and go to File on the dreamcast menu (it is a dancing VMU).
It will ask you to wipe/format the VMU in slot 1 and pick a logo.
Just do as it asks and now you can save games!

(First create a new folder named Dreamcast games then you extract the emulator) Then you go to Chankast... go to configure drives... select "e".. then you start your game and you are ready to play an awesome game like MORTAL KOMBAT GOLD! :) Have fun gamers!
