Pendulum Monsters are treated as regular monster cards in almost every circumstance. They have a special rule that allows them to be activated as spell cards, but until that point, they are treated as monster cards in every way including searching for them or anything that looks at a card's type. If a Pendulum Monster is chosen as the random card for Ordeal of a Traveler, only 'monster' is the correct answer, 'spell' is incorrect.

Well he was captured by the japs in the second level. He was seen onboard the carrier in the last level but the Japanese guy Shima flew him back to the Philippines. After the last level Donnie gets interned in the infamous Camp O'Donnel, where he nearly dies of starvation, physical torture and severe disease after nearly 3 years as a P.O.W. When Gen. MacAurthur returned and liberated the Phillippines in 1944, Donnie and the rest of the surviving P.O.W.s were rescued by the U.S. Army Rangers, Donnie recovered from his ordeal, and was returned home after 3 months intensive care in a Navy hosptial back in Pearl Harbor. As for Shima, he was never found, it was rumored that he fled back to Japan to help organize the defence of the homeland. Other rumors say he was killed by Phillippine guerillas and buried somewhere in the Phillipines. Another one suggests he committed ritual suicide once he realized the Phillippines were lost to the Allies, and that his men buried him at sea as they retreated from the islands.
