No you cannot. You can only get Bricks. On Beta 1.5_01 Clay is cooked in a Furnace to make Bricks which are formed into Brick Blocks.

There is no pavement block on minecraft just blocks like stone, Cobblestone and Stone bricks often get used for pavements.
Minecraft does not include a stone cutter, it is for PE versions only. We can craft stone bricks from using the crafting table.
