The difference of the two games MGS2 is just a normal game but MGS2 Substance is a way cooler version of said game like you go skateboarding in it or challenge the bosses it also VR Training gives you a European extreme setting and a casting theater which is way cool cause you can change characters in the cut scence like you can change snake into Raiden or Raiden into Ocelot or Otacon into vamp , so basically MGS2 Substance is way better than MGS2
There's no missions in MGS2. Raiden has a mission but that's it.
During the SOP (Sons of the Patriots), Olga stated to Raiden that the life of her child (Later on known as Sunny) depended on his own. It is known that after SOP, Raiden had complications with his girlfriend of the time; Rose. After Rose had told Raiden his child (that she admitted she was carrying at Arsenal Gear in MGS2) was miscarried. Through hearing this and the fact that Rose and the Colonel had gotten married, Raiden left to Alaska where the Patriots found him and severed his head. His arrival in MGS4 surely shocked Solid Snake and everyone else as well, as they had thought he too had died and was dead for good. Raiden's head-severing was just the start of him becoming a cyborg ninja.(This also explains why he wanted to protect Sunny so much.)
I did
Assuming he was 21 at the start of the SOP in MGS2 and four years had passed to MGS4, he would've been 25 at that time. Now, after it being five years after Guns of the Patriots, he would be 30, which fits his physical appearance. But nothing is truly known.
Raiden is actually from MGS2. But, Ivan Raidonovitch Raikov do looks surprisingly similar to Raiden.

No. Peace Walker takes place between MGS3, Portable Ops, and MGS5. Raiden appears later in MGS2, MGS4 and Revengeance.
My recommendation is that you purchase Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for PS2. Metal Gear Solid 2 and MGS2: Substance are great games. In fact, it was the first MGS game that I played. But it is mainly about Raiden. Trust me, I have no problem with raiden but Solid Snake or Naked Snake (Big Boss) are much cooler. Also, if you have a PS3 you should definitely rent/buy MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.
it's RISING, not raising. back to the question... Rising is the next MGS game in the series and in it you take the role of Raiden between MGS2 and 4 (MGS3 is a prequel).
It is revealed in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots that the child Rose was carrying in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was in fact fathered by Raiden.

Never. After defeating Shinnok,Raiden hand over his position to Fugin, one of the successor of Raiden. There Raiden was finished and went .
