Well I don't Know if it is the "best" but you should try your birthday. example: if you were born on April 17th, 1972 your island would be 4171972. 9999999997 is also another good island. don't choose and multi-section island, it takes WAY to long to get from one to the other.
i easily sustained a tribe of 56 (i used the twin potion :) ) on island # 2010 there is lots of space for building with lots of trees and rock left over for harvesting! it is not a multi section island. it has the fossil, fountain and flower vault mystery. i have 11 houses, 2 science stations, 1 art studio, 2 wood gathering huts, 1 rock hut, a food hut the shipyard and the ark and there is still lots of room left for more. hope this helps!!!!
You first have to get to at least the second island where some of your other crewmates are. Then you should start to talk and become good friends. If your relationship is good enough, you can ask them to join your tribe under special. Hope I helped and good luck!!!
In my opinion Dead Island is the best, it depends on what you think of the game.
Seven Island if you don't include the elite four.

click on tribe(it is next to reports) write a tribe name, and it's initials, and then start inviting people. If they join then make sure they are active.
