This is my opinion. If I were you, I would choose the secret den located to the east of the map. To find it, all you have to do is follow the river to the end of the map, then go up the small hill on the south side of the river, and you should find it. If you still can find it, use your scent vision, because there is a carcass right beside the den.
This den is right beside a carcass, a river, and it has a great view!
Now, if you are looking for a den that you can use in 1 player, try the bison den. It has many carcasses around, easy to spot predators, and also it is the closest to the point you have to travel, to beat the game.
