Have you port-forwarded? That's needed for Minecraft servers to work (and for most other gaming servers).
Enter "localhost" in your webbrowser. DO NOT ENTER http! After that, click port forward and enter 25565 to port forward. Then press OK/Done/etc. That's what it is like for most computer routers.

For the default Minecraft port, the port is 25565 - however if you wish to have more than one servers running at once, you would have to select a new port, and you'd have to type your IP and at the end of that, add :25564 if you put 25564 as the port. Make sure all instances of Minecraft Server are closed, also another application could be using the port. Try doing killall java then run the server.
