The GS ball was a ball that was supposed to have a celebi in it. The GS ball was supposed to be made with the feathers of lugia and ho-oh. However, the makers of Pokemon decided to put celebi in a movie rather than in the anime. So the ball was left, hoping that people will eventually forget about it. The GS inscriptios stand for Gold and Silver which are the vercions in which the jotho saga takes place. Also on a side note the ball was allegedly to reappear in the next saga of the Pokemon series, but the controversial episode involved homosexual overtones that left the episode unfinished and forgotten.
