The adapter is so that you can use the smaller MSD card in a device that fits the normal larger Memory Stick. You insert the MSD card into the adapter until it clicks, then plug the adapter into the reader or device that uses a Memory Stick. i would transfer data from one Memory stick to another by putting the files on a computer and then copy + paste on other memory stick! I have done this as my original M Stick was damaged and wanted to transfer file to a new one but my Sony camera does not read it... I can only read the files on the computer.. Why..? you view them by a. through the actual camera b. through the computer in order to veiw them through the computer you must have a. the adapter chord that connects to the computer to the camera or b. have a memory stick reader that is connected to the computer. you would then place the memory card in the reader. these things usually run for about 10-20 dollars
