He's just an in-game trainer, like all the rest (Albeit, the HIGHEST set-leveled team in the Pokemon series, as of that point; I say it that way, as the Battle Frontier can have Lv. 100's, matching your highest level on your team)

Anyway, if he beats you, then you return to the last Pokemon Center, and have to work all the way back up to him to try again, the same as against any trainer in the series.

If you beat him, then the credits roll, you return home again, and have to beat the Elite 4 again if you want to reface him. (Can face him infinite times, just ALWAYS have to re-beat the E-4 each time. Overall, this process nets a LOT of Exp., especially for traded Pokemon/Pokemon holding Lucky Egg (and TONS if it's a traded Pokemon holding the Lucky Egg!!! I recommend the Switch-Out method.)
