I've had that happen to me too. sometimes my family members, but sometimes other people who are on my lot. I normally save the game and log off. and most of the time when i log back on, they are unstuck. Although sometimes i just wait and it works. But.....one time they didn't unstuck at all....i had to completely delete that one.

Also, if you're playing The Sims 3 on your PC, you can press CTRL + SHIFT + C then type in "testingCheatsEnabled true" (without the quotes), then press CTRL + SHIFT + C again and enter "resetSim <sim name>"

Just replace <sim name> with the name of the sim you want to unstick. This usually works for me. Not sure if this works on the console version as I've never played it. I've had every sim on my lot get stuck in their beds as they slept and had to go through this process to fix them. Always seems to be related to interacting with beds when I've seen it.
